I bought several to try out and this one is hands down the best. Perfectly weighted and sized.
So prior to purchasing this one I had one that was considered medium quality. Certainly not dollar store, but not chef quality. The handle technically was separated by metal and plastic and It was well constructed, so I never really had any issues with it ever. The weight on that one 0.68 oz. While I did its job, it generally took a lot longer than I would have liked to say, pound out a chicken breast. For example, if I didn't butterfly it first and stared with maybe 3-4 inches thick, at times I would have a few tears; even if butterfly first or half that could happen. Now bring on this bad boy, or girl...lol. very well constructed, not too big or long, which is a big plus. The weight distribution is excellent considering its pretty heavy. I bought 3 packages of chicken breasts total were 9 and all were no less than 3 inches thick. This tenderizer at effortlessly made the poultry a 1/4 inch think and zero tears. I even used the spike side a few times to test when it was already near the correct thickness just to see if a tear would occur. Basically, because the mallet and handle is a little bit heavier. You don't have to force any sort of pounding which means those 9 took maybe 10 to 12 min total. It would have been much quicker, but I take my time. I used saran wrap to wrap them afterwards before I vacuum sealed them. Prior they take me a lot longer. I'd have to use a lot more force and on top of that, I would have to probably at least pound for an extra 1 or 2 min per cut.Overall, I would definitely recommend this.I was hesitant at first.I'm not gonna lie, but i'm glad I got it.It's gonna make my life a lot.Easier for food prep.
Solid, stainless steel, not to heavy, and does the job cleanly! With a nice rubber handle! and easy to clean!
